Dr Derek Clover (BVSc)
Dr Clover qualified from Onderstepoort in 2006. After working in the UK and the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands for 7 years, he then settled at Hayfields Vet in 2014. The practice is jointly owned by Dr Clover and Dr Adank. Dr Clover enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine and has valuable experience in treating the ‘small furries’ such as rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and chinchillas. He takes pride in being a vet that uses a combination of good clinical skills, as well as diagnostic tools, to help his patients and their owners.
Dr Adriaan Adank (BSc, BVSc)
Dr Adank qualified from Onderstepoort in 2010 and thereafter worked in mixed animal practice in Namibia for 8 years. During this time he developed a special interest in orthopaedic surgery and due to his experience in treating large animals, he is happy seeing all creatures great and small. Dr Adank joined the practice in September 2018 and became a part-owner of Hayfields Vet in September 2020.
Dr Andrea Paul (BSc, BVSc)
After qualifying from Onderstepoort in 2014, Dr Andrea Paul moved to Wartburg where she now lives with her husband. In addition to working part time at Hayfields Vet, Dr Paul also runs a small animal consulting room in Wartburg. She is a dedicated and compassionate vet who always puts her patient’s needs first.
Dr Kate Wallace (BVSc)
Dr Wallace joined Hayfields Vet in November 2022.
Vet Nurses
Sr Leslie Shooter (DVN, BFA, BSc Hon)
Leslie Shooter qualified at Olds College in Canada as an AHT and joined Hayfields Vet in 2006. Leslie has degrees in art (painting & drawing) from the University of British Columbia, as well as in Zoology & Primatology from the University of Calgary. Leslie assists the vets in theater, maintains and monitors anesthetics, takes radiographs, manages the pharmacy as well as other nursing duties. Leslie also runs our Hills Pet Slimmer program and is available to answer general questions on diet, behaviour, parasite control and pet health.
Sr Janice Clover (DVN)
Sr Janice Clover qualified from Onderstepoort in 2004 and spent 4 years working in England and Pretoria before settling back home in the Midlands where she worked in Hilton for 10 years. Janice joined Hayfields Vet in 2019 as a part time Veterinary Nurse. She holds a special interest in anesthesia, pain management, cytology and microscopy.
Reception
Kerry Nel (NDip Horticulture)
Kerry is one of our receptionists. Kerry is a trained Horticulturist and joined Hayfields Vet in 2009. Since then she has been responsible for food and stock orders. If your pet has a specific dietary requirement, she will be more than happy to assist in ensuring that the food is available.
Aimee Hendriksz (MCP, MCSE)
Aimee is one of our receptionists. Aimee has been with Hayfields Vet since 2011. Aimee used to breed Siamese, Orientals and Peterbalds and received many achievements including Best Siamese, Oriental & Peterbald breeder in South Africa for several years. Along with ensuring that we have stock of the best beds, toys and treats for your pets, Aimee also looks after our debtors. If you have any special requests, she will try her best to source what you need.
Shannon Torlage
Shannon is one of our receptionists.
Toni Harley
Toni is our part time receptionist. Toni has a wealth of knowledge about pets and their veterinary needs. She is also very involved in canine agility. Tony runs Doggone-Clean grooming parlor from Hayfields Vet.

Veterinary & Kennel Assistants
Francina Gugwana and Nelly Mnyaka
Our ever-cheerful veterinary and kennel assistants, Francina and Nelly live on the property along with Skye the practice dog. They are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital and kennels, sterilizing our surgical instruments and assisting in the basic nursing care of our patients.
Sandile
Is our part time veterinary and kennel assistant and is responsible for maintaining our beautiful gardens.
